As promised, the Mi A1 has been one of the very first non-pixel phones to get the Android Oreo Stable Build. Xiaomi also promises that the Mi A1 will be the first to get Android P Update as well. Kudos to the Android One Project!
What’s New with Android Oreo on Mi A1?
There are a couple of changes with the Mi A1 with this update. The biggest is the introduction of fast charging. The Mi A1 runs on the Snapdragon 625 SoC which natively does support fast charging but for some reason Xiaomi/Google had disabled it earlier with their Nougat OS. However, we can finally enjoy the high charging speeds with Android Oreo. Another feature from Android Oreo is the Picture in Picture (PiP) Mode for videos. Android Oreo has also added the following features: Snoozing individual notifications, Adaptive icons, Keyboard navigation, Pro Audio support, limits on Background activity and a lot more.
How to Update?
First of all, you need to be on the latest Android 7.1 Build. Afterwards, you don’t really have to do anything. Just sit back and relax. Xiaomi has already started pushing the update out in batches and if you own a Mi A1, you should get the update soon.
The update is sized at 1107.4 MB, with the Security Patch of December 1.
